Chittoor district police on Tuesday arrested eight men for duping a Tamil Nadu native of Rs. 2.10 crore under the pretext of supplying him a rice puller vessel.
The police arrested R Mahadeva, S Gangadhar, V Ramachandra Naidu, M Siva Kumar, VB Seenappa, N Dhanasekhar, S Vinayagam and E Sekhar belonging to different parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The police recovered Rs.1.29 crore, two cars, a bike and a rice pulling bowl packed box from the accused. Additional S P Krishnarjuna Rao said another accused was absconding.
Chittoor additional SP Krishnarjuna Rao told reporters that the accused had approached one Naveen Kumar at Tirupattur in Tamil Nadu to provide a rice puller vessel.
Naveen Kumar gave Rs.2.10 crore to the accused near Gudupalle in Kuppam but they did not deliver the vessel.
Kumar lodged a complaint with Kuppam police and a case was registered at the Gudupalle police station.
On Tuesday, the district police noted suspicious movement of vehicles near Peddavanka bridge in the outskirts of Gudupalle and made the arrests.
Chittoor SP S Senthil Kumar appreciated the special team led by Palamaner DSP Arifulla, inspectors Krishna Mohan and Rama Krishnamachari for nabbing the accused.
